A loan of $600 helped to purchase sacks of compost.

Lucio's story

Lucio, who is 26 years old, is a hard-working man who is dedicated to his farm-work. He lives with his wife, Lisbith, who also makes her living in agriculture. Together they have one 5-year old daughter, who is their greatest joy and for whom they work to get ahead. The family is comfortably installed in their own home.
Lucio's business is agriculture. He has 20 hectares of his own land. He plants cacao, which is the preferred alternative to coco leaves, in 3 of the hectares. In addition, he has banana and corn crops, which he plants for his family's consumption. And he raises fowl, like chickens and ducks.
It has taken Lucio more than 10 years to get settled in and take over in this line of work. He currently has the help of family members and day laborers.
Lucio feels that his business is profitable because of the demand for his produce and because he earns good money. He likes his work because he likes to be in the fields and to be close to nature and the tranquility of the countryside, where he feels very happy. In addition, his fields give him what he needs to live comfortably and to educate his daughter, which is his greatest source of pride. And which is why he has a great desire to progress. He wants to improve his farming technology by purchasing a tractor. This is his 2nd loan with MFP, and as such he is counting on their collaboration to continue meeting his goals. He also says that he feels happy with his communal bank; he feels that the members are excellent people.
Lucio will invest all of the requested sum of 1500 nuevos soles ($600 USD), in the purchase of a large quantity of cacao fertilizer to improve the quality of his crop.
