A loan of $600 helped to purchase manure, fertilizers, perform pruning, and to clean and irrigate his cultivation.

Hector Santos's story

Hector lives in the city of Ica, which is characterized by very hot and warm climate. In the area there's farming, especially the cultivation of cotton, grapes, and asparagus, among others. Hector learned to earn his living with the sweat of his brow, because his parents were humble and therefore he had to support them to cover the household expenses. For this reason, he could only study through fifth grade of secondary education, but he would have liked to study computer science.

Every day, Hector works in his small plot in which he planted cotton. He works about six hours a day and with the fruit of his work he covers the costs of his household and keeps supporting his parents. He thinks he is doing well in his business because he works with pleasure.

Hector is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they provided, he will buy manure, fertilizers, perform pruning, and will clean and irrigate his cultivation. Doing so, he will have a good harvest and will get ahead in realizing his biggest dream of "having his own home".
