The community bank “Venceremos” (We will conquer) is comprised of 8 members, 6 of whom are single mothers with 10 children to care for. Two members are male. They all belong to the area Malpaisillo that is a place that is characterized as an agricultural zone where one can sow corn and wheat and produce milk.

The members of this bank decided to unify to obtain credit from the foundation and get ahead in their different businesses. The members are hard working and honorable. They also have hopes of overcoming their situation to get ahead with their children so they can have better opportunities.

Benita is the coordinator of the community bank ”Venceremos” (We will conquer). She is responsible that each of the members pays their repayments on time and that they all support each other in an organized way.

Benita has a grocery store located in her house. She has 5 years experience. She needs the loan to invest capital in her work and supply her grocery store with daily necessities such as: basic grains, oil, bread, milk, eggs, delicacies, tiste (corn and cocoa drink) among other things. This way she will satisfy the demand of her clients that are her neighbors and increase her earnings.

The members of the community bank “Venceremos” (We will conquer) are grateful to the help given to them by the Kiva investors to low income people in underdeveloped countries such as Nicaragua so the members have a dignifying work source.

El banco comunal venceremos esta conformados por 8 integrantes de los cuales síes son madres solteras con 10 hijos bajo su responsabilidad, y dos integrantes varones. Todos pertenecen a la comunidad de malpaisillo lugar que se caracteriza por ser una zona agrícola donde se siembras maíz, trigo, y productora de leche. Los integrantes de este banco decidieron unirse para optar al crédito con fundación y salir adelantes con sus diferentes negocios, son personas, trabajadoras, honradas, con ganas de superación y para salir adelante con sus hijos que tengan mejores oportunidades. Benita es la coordinadora del banco comunal Venceremos la cual se encarga de las responsabilidad de cada uno de los integrantes con la puntualidad de las cuotas en tiempo y forma y que todas se apoyen organizadamente. Benita tiene por actividad económica una pulpería ubicada en su casa de habitación y cuenta con una experiencia de 5 anos. El financiamiento lo necesita para invertir en capital de trabajo y surtir su pulpería en la compra de productos de consumo diario del hogar como: granos básicos, aceite, pan, leche, huevos, golosinas, tiste, entre otros. Y de dicha forma satisfacer la demanda de sus clientes los cuales son sus vecinos, y así poder incrementar sus ganancias. Los integrantes del banco comunal Venceremos agradecen la ayuda que le brindan los inversionistas kiva a las personas de escasos recurso de países pobre como es Nicaragua para tener fuentes de trabajo digno.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
