Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $2,100 helped to buy building materials for repairing her house.

Fotima's story

Fotima is a 34-year-old woman, married and the mother of five children whose ages range from one to fifteen years old. Four of the children are already in school.

Fotima has been selling cattle at a local market for sixteen years. Thanks to her good experience in this field and her influence over her suppliers, she is able to obtain goods for retail but it brings in little income. It does not allow her to fully provide for the needs of her family and repair her house. Her family is large and is planning a big, new house.

This loan will help her buy building materials to repair her house. In this way she will provide a higher quality of living condition for her family and put an end to the problems with house.
