Alex Enrique's story

Alex, 19, lives in the city of Nazca, a city noted for its hot, welcoming climate. It has many tourist attractions that are very popular like the Nazca Lines and the Cahuachi Cemetery, among others. Agriculture, especially cactus apples, corn and cotton, among others is also prevalent here.

Alex is very hardworking but when he has a little free time available he enjoys watching movies, especially comedies, and on occasion to eat one of his favorite dishes, the very delicious “Arroz con Pollo.” [Chicken with Rice]

Alex works day to day as a taxi driver. He works around 12 hours daily and can tend to up to 25 customers per day. He’s able to help his parents with household expenses with the fruits of his labor and above all to pay his university costs since he’s studying auto mechanics. He believes that he does well at work because he’s very dedicated and above all because he very much wants to get ahead.

Alex is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve given him he will be able to buy materials like pliers, wrenches, soldering liquid, welding masks, etc. for his father’s small auto repair shop. In this way he will be able to continue working and help his father improve his family’s quality of life. In this way he will be able to continue working day to day striving to complete his career and reach one of his greatest dreams: to have his own welding shop.
