Jacinta's story

Jacinta is 66 years old. She is a shy woman. She lives with Juan, her husband of 40 years. Together they have 4 children, but they only live with their son Samuel, whom she takes care of in the house she inherited 42 years ago. Since they started their family, they have been planting crops of potatoes, peas and carrots in their farm land, which they have done for twenty years. Everyday they dedicate their time to taking care of their crops and land. She said that each harvest, they sell the vegetables in the capital, where they receive good profits.

She also started raising guinea pigs, she currently has 400, which she sells on the weekends in the market in the capital. She has returning customers, whom commend her for the quality of the breed she has. Her secret is to raise them with much care, disinfecting their cages with lime so that they do not catch any diseases. She also moves them around to different locations so that they are not stressed, and in this way she is able to achieve the quality that she hopes for in the matured animals.

She belongs to the communal bank "Sicaya 2000" and this is the first loan she has taken out through MFP. She is happy because she has recently been making good profits, thanks to the economic support she has been given. For this reason she promises to make her payments. She enjoys working with her communal bank because the members are hard working and supportive. Jacinta will invest the money from the loan in the purchase of 300 sacks of organic fertilizer to scatter amongst her crops.
