Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $600 helped to buy seeds, fertilizers, urea, Ranger [brand of herbicide], and liquid weed killer.

David Sabino's story

David Sabino, age 34, is in a common-law marriage. He lives with his wife and children in the city of Ventanas in the Los Ríos province.

He is a member of the Últimos Serán los Primeros communal bank. It is located in the San Gabriel precinct in the Ventanas canton. The people here farm and work with livestock.

David Sabino is a farmer, and he grows corn. He is requesting the loan to buy seeds, fertilizers, urea, Ranger [brand of herbicide], and liquid weed killer.

With the help of the loan he will be able to buy what he needs to be able to start cultivating the crops. He will make his purchases in Ventanas. The challenges he faces are pest infestations of his crops

His dream is to be able to buy a piece of land. In his free time he likes to play sports, volleyball, and indoor soccer.
