Fatmata's Group's story

These are teachers of a primary school based in Kenema city. This school was founded in 1973. Teachers of the school have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, to seek a loan. They are requesting a loan of 13,700,000 Sierra Leonean Leones for the entire group. With the help of this loan, these teachers will be in a better position to buy or invest in something that their mere salaries cannot let them do. Massah is the leader of the group. She is age 36. She was born in Kalaihun, in Eastern Sierra Leone. She is married to a teacher and has two children who are attending primary school. Massah has been in the teaching profession for 13 years now. She has requested this loan in order to buy house-building materials like cement, iron corrugated zinc, rods, etc. for the construction of a family dwelling house.
