Samuka J.'s Group's story

Pictured above are teachers from one of the primary schools in Kenema, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, to seek a loan of 9,200,000 Sierra Leonean Leones to be able to solve their immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, they will repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. Boima is the leader of this group of teachers. Born in Foindu Nongowa village, in Eastern Sierra Leone, the 39 year old has been in the teaching profession for six years now. He is married and has four children attending primary school. Boima has requested this loan to pay school fees for his children.
