A loan of $400 helped to buy natural fertilizer.

Rocio's story

Rocío, 42, is an unassuming woman living with Luis, her husband for the last 17 years. They have five children they care for in the house she bought five years ago. Rocío says that she figures out ways to work at all sorts of things; this is how she started her comments about the support she gets.

Her activities are diverse. During the day she buys and sells alfalfa in her local square although on days when she collects large amounts of alfalfa either on her own or from third parties she sells it in the nation’s capital where profits are good. She also grows corn, potatoes, wheat and alfalfa on her farmland. She cares for the crops with much dedication despite the other activities she does. Alongside this business, she also raises animals like guinea pigs and rabbits that she sells to local customers.

She’d now like to focus all her time and energy into improving her working conditions so that she can work with more peace and tranquility which is why she’s going to start to learn about agriculture and animal husbandry.

She’s a member of the “Sicaya 2000” communal bank and this is MFP loan #10. She feels happy because she’s earned good profits during this time thanks to the economic support she’s given. Because of this she promises to make her installment payments. Also, she likes working with her association because the members are supportive, hardworking people. Rocío will use the money to buy natural fertilizers to nourish her corn and potato crops.
