Luz Maria
Luz Maria has worked for a long time raising chickens. Due to adverse situations she had to stop this activity against her will and started to work as a caretaker at farms. Since her employers didn't let her continue with her business at their farms, Luz Maria stopped this activity completely. But now she is working at a farm where her employer does let her raise the chickens. Luz Maria wants to re-start her activity and to do that she is asking for a loan to buy the chickens and feed for them, as well as to set up the pen to raise them in. This way, she can re-start her activity.

Luz Maria hace mucho tiempo trabajaba con la actividad de la crianza de pollos, pero por situaciones adversas a su voluntad tuvo que dejar esta actividad y comenzó a trabajar en fincas como mayordomo. Como sus empleadores no la dejaban continuar con el negocio dentro de sus fincas, Luz Maria había abandonado esta actividad completamente. Pero ahora que se encuentra trabajando en una finca donde su empleador si le permite tener la crianza de los pollos, Luz Maria quiere reiniciar su actividad y para esto pide un préstamo para comprar los pollos, el cuido para alimentarlos y adecuar el corral para criarlos; y así poder reiniciar con la actividad.

Su sueño es poder tener una buena calidad de vida y ofrecer en su hogar un mayor apoyo económico, de modo que su esposo y sus 5 hijos puedan tener mejores oportunidades para salir adelante.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
