Aida has been an active member of PMPC since 2010. She is 40 years old, and married with 3 school-age children. She lives in Panlautan, Siquijor, Siquijor. Aida has been selling coco wine for 15 years, and earning an income of PHP 2,000 a month. Lately, she decided to engage in raising pigs to gain an additional source of income. She took a loan from PMPC to purchase more coco wine for sale, and to purchase a piglet to raise. She plans to use the profit to provide the daily needs of the family and education for her children.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
