Jeana is an active micro-finance member of PMPC since 2011. She is a widow with 1 adult-aged and 2 school-aged children. She lives in Bontod, Larena, Siquijor.
Jeana has been engaged in a piggery business for over 20 years, with a monthly average earnings of PHP 10,000. She took a loan from PMPC to purchase feed for her pigs. A portion of the loan will be used for financial assistance for her daughter to work abroad. She hopes that someday the living condition of the family will be improved.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
