A loan of $450 helped to buy lizardfish, sea fish, catfish and shrimp; and to fix the bike-cart he uses to distribute his fish.

Emiro's story

Emiro, 57, is married and has two son, ages 29 and 18, and a daughter, aged 27, who he wants to become successful people. For 23 years Emiro has been selling fish and distributing it using a bike-cart. He decided to go into business after working in a textile factory for ten years. He used the severance pay he received to buy fish and sell it to his neighbors. Nowadays, he is very well-known in the industry because he sells all kinds of fish directly to the customers, on both a cash and 8-day credit basis. He works Tuesday through Sunday and makes his purchases in cash at the Barranquilla market.

His business goal is to buy a new bike-cart and increase his fish purchases to increase sales. This is so he can renovate his house and build on a lot he just bought. But, despite his dreams, he is up against a great challenge, which is not having enough working capital to make his dreams come true. Therefore, he is requesting a CrediKiva loan to buy fish, such as lizardfish, sea fish, catfish and shrimp; and also to fix the bike-cart he uses to distribute the fish. Through this investment he will be able to increase his variety and attract more customers, little by little allowing him to reach his goal.
