A loan of $350 helped to buy cement, sand and molds.

Maria's story

María, 27, has been in the brick making business for five years. She sells to private customers and contractors, and also supplies blocks to a recreational center that is constantly increasing its orders. Her business consists of the process of preparation, mixing and pouring material into dry molds. Her sales are transacted in cash and she works Monday through Saturday. She also buys her materials in cash at hardware stores in the town of Malambo where she lives and her business is located. Her target market are hardware stores, so her goal is to increase her production volume to attract as many as she can as fixed customers.

Her greatest difficulty is the lack of working capital to increase production and sales. This is the reason she is requesting her first CrediKiva loan through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. She will use it to buy cement, sand and molds. With this investment she will be able to increase her stock of blocks and increase her offer, making her CrediKiva successful.
