A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer for his coffee crop.

William's story

William, 19, is a happy and hardworking young man who is making something of himself so he can have a better future. He lives alone in his own house that his parents left to him as inheritance. When he was young, William's parents taught him all about what it means to work on the farm and that's how he started earning his own money 10 years ago in his neighbors' fields who have been thankful for his help. Now he's focussed on his own coffee crops, which he was able to acquire through a lot of effort.

In time, he hopes to have several hectares planted in coffee and that way succeed in having a good homestead. That's the what led him to seek out financing from Microfinanzas Prisma [Kiva field partner] and request a loan to help in his work plan and eventually realize his dreams. This will be his second credit and he's used to being punctual with his payments so that he may have access to future loans when he needs them. In his community bank he's much loved by those that know him for being such a responsible young man. WIth the 1,000 nuevos soles, he will buy organic fertilizer to use in caring for his crops.
