A loan of $200 helped to contract day laborers.

Gervasio's story

Gervasio, 48 years old, lives in his own home with his wife, Silvestre, 42, and his three dear children: Tulio, 20 years old, Karina, 15 years old, and Lucy, 7 years old. The children all support their parents in the great effort they are making to get ahead.

Gervasio is a good man who is dedicated to growing coffee, a crop that provides him with good profits at harvest time. He notes that, thanks to his hard work day after day, he now has several hectares of coffee under cultivation. Nevertheless it is difficult for him to transport his crops from the farm to the collection centers. However his most important task now is to purchase coffee plants in order to expand his fields and, in this way, increase production and achieve economic stability.

This is Gervaisio’s ninth loan and he is ready to make all of his payments punctually because he wants to be able to access other loans in the future. He is a very attentive member of his communal bank. With the S/. 500, he will contract day laborers to help him remove weeds from his fields.
