A loan of $500 helped to buy basic grains, oil, juices, soft drinks, dairy products, soap, phone cards and snacks.

Consuelo Del Socorro's story

Consuelo is a married 36-year-old woman from Managua with two children who are aged 6 and 13. Her husband works as a driver, and he helps her with the household expenses.

She started her business when she lost her job. With the severance that they gave her, she made the decision together with her husband to start a business that would help with the household expenses. They then had the idea to open a grocery store. She saw the necessity to invest in more merchandise to sell. It was then that she sought a loan since she did not have sufficient capital.

She needs to to buy basic grains, oil, juices, soft drinks, dairy products, soap, phone cards and snacks. Her dream is to be able to grow her store more and buy a small permanent store where she can sell food in order to diversify her income and improve her family's quality of life.
