A loan of $400 helped to purchase roofing tiles for his home.

Alejandro's story

Alejandro is 37 years old and is married to Cleofé, who is 35 years old. They have two children and live in their own home which they bought thanks to their daily efforts. Alejandro is a farmer and has been working his own plot of land for the past 12 years. He cultivates cocoa, coffee, and stevia plants. At harvest time he counts on the help of daily harvest workers. He knows very well that the money he obtains comes from producing high quality fruits. His cocoa and coffee products are sold in the central markets of his community, since that is where they offer the best prices for quality grains. What he likes most about his job is harvesting the fruits, since he feels that the months of arduous labor provide him with the payoff through high quality fruits. He thinks the most difficult part is transporting his products from the field to the place where they dry. In the future, he hopes to buy more land and to increase his production. But for now he is prioritizing finishing construction of his house. This is his fifth credit, and he feels that the money will help him greatly in the progress of his work. In his communal bank he is very beloved by the other members, since he is very good to them. With the 1,000 nuevos soles (Peruvian currency) he will buy roofing tiles for his home.
