A loan of $800 helped a member to buy more piglets and feed and to build a pigpen.

Saam's Group's story

SaAm is originally from the Ratanak Mondul district of Cambodia. She has three children, two of whom are dependent on her and too young to attend school.

To sustain her household, she grows pigs at home and her husband does rice-cropping on one hectare of farmland. She has been in this business for six years and she is able to earn about 13,000 KHR per day.

There are three members in SaAm's group. She is in the fifth loan cycle while the other two co-members are newly joined clients with Kiva's partner (VisionFund). She has managed her past fours loans wisely in order to improve her living conditions.

For this cycle, she wants to expand her pig-raising business. She leads this group to request a new loan. For her loan portion, she is going to buy more piglets and feed and build a pigpen. She hopes to raise her pig healthily so as to sell it for a high price in order to keep supporting her family, especially her children.
