A loan of $1,500 helped to buy cows and sell milk.

Jose Manuel's story

José, age 36, has two children ages 4 and 7. He lives in San José de los Remates, a small community where the main activity is farming basic grains such as corn, beans, wheat and sorghum. The majority of the residents, including José, do this work. They also buy and sell livestock. Starting off was very difficult for José. Thanks to the support of his family, he was able to buy land to sow. He has worked for himself for six years, planting crops and selling livestock. He sells the livestock during the low season for crops. He needs a loan for the purchase of cows and to sell milk. He wants to increase his milk sales. To do so, he needs to buy food for livestock and cows in order to keep them healthy; this way, he will be able to sell quality milk. In the future he wants to buy more lands in order to plant more basic grains, and to have the opportunity to offer his children a better future.
