Carmen Rosa's story

Carmen is 55 years old. She lives in the city of Chincha, characterized by its warm and pleasing climate. Its people are cheerful and have a special gift for preparing food. The city of Chincha is the cradle of great glories of Peruvian sports. They also dance one of the traditional dances of our country, which is El Festejo. Carmen is the mother of 4 children. They are grown now, but she has always fought to give them a dignified life and above all an example of work and love. Rosa is a very hardworking woman, but when she has a little free time she really likes to watch television and sometimes she likes to prepare one of her favorite dishes, which is the delicious “Arroz con Pato con Causa Rellena”. Due to the fact that she has few resources, she was only able to go to school up to the fourth grade, but she would have liked to go to secondary school.

Day to day, Rosa works in her small business selling colado. It is a very delicious dessert that can be eaten with bread or alone. She also offers sandwiches and champú, which is also a traditoinal dessert in our country. Rosa works in her bsuiness around 10 hours a day. She believes that it is going well for us in the business because she has a lot of experience and because she is a good cook.

Carmen is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, since thanks to the help they have offered she was able to buy merchandise for her business such as plastic cups to sell her products, as well as beans, chanchaca sauce, sesame seeds and more . This way, she can offer her products in a better way and improve her income and keep fighting each day to make her biggest dream come true: be able to re-build her house, which was destroyed in the 2007 earthquake.
