A loan of $1,400 helped a member to purchase starch, animal fat, aniseed, cheese, eggs and other ingredients.

Buscando Progreso De Las Mujeres Group's story

Communal bank “Buscando Progreso Para Las Mujeres” (Seeking Advancement for Women) was created under the initiative of one of its members. It is on its first loan cycle and is made up of 11 members. The starting of this bank is proof of the union and solidarity of its members, all of which now have an income-generating activity.
Melania is one such member. She makes and sells chipas, a kind of cheese buns made with cassava starch. This is her livelihood and her family's source of income. She is hard-working and above all, an honest woman that stands out because of the important support she gives to her bank.
Melania is asking for this loan in order to purchase starch, animal fat, aniseed, cheese, eggs and other ingredients necessary to make chipas and thus, to generate an income for her family.
