A loan of $550 helped a member to buy pesticides and seeds for her plantation.

Poy's Group's story

Poy, 40 years old and a rural farmer, lives in the Ratanak Mondul district of Battambang province (Cambodia). She is married with two children who are dependent on her and help with the family business. She has grown corn on a 4-hectare area of farmland for 11 years to support the family. From the current business, she is able to earn about 15,000 KHR per day and 10,000 KHR each day after deducting daily expenses. Drought is the main challenge for her paddy field. Poy has been with VisionFund for one loan cycle and completely paid back the past loan while the other member is just with VisionFund for this loan cycle. She has wisely used the first loan to better support her family with sufficient food. Now leading her group of two to ask for a loan, Poy, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy pesticides and seeds for her plantation and use a portion of it to spend on labor fees. She hopes this loan will enable her to grow her corn more fruitfully and healthfully so as to keep her lifestyle in a good condition.
