A loan of $400 helped to purchase meats and vegetables, as well as pots and new utensils.

Pedro's story

Pedro is 60 years old and married to Odilia. He has 5 children, but they no longer live with him. Pedro lives in his own home that he acquired as an inheritance from his parents. Pedro is a persistent man. More than 20 years ago, he opened a food stall in his local market. There, he sells meals from 5:00 in the afternoon until midnight. He and his wife are in charge of preparing chicken soup, lamb stew, and other meals. He mentions "The work is all day: In the morning, we leave to purchase the ingredients and then we begin to cook." In all this time, he has gathered faithful customers. Also, he mentions that the majority of his customers arrive starting at 10:00pm. "Police officers, guards, students, and business people all come here, because at these hours of the night, they can't find restaurants open." he adds.

Among his short term plans are acquiring new pots and utensils to better tend to his customers. This is his 12th loan with MFP. In all this time, he has proved himself to be punctual with his payments and responsible with the activities of his communal bank "Los Pioneros de Capelo”, with which he feels very satisfied. With the money, he will be able to obtain ingredients to prepare the food that he sells such as meat and vegetables. With what is leftover, he will purchase pots and new utensils.
