A loan of $1,075 helped to buy pigs.

Jesika Fernanda's story

Jesika, 22, is single; she completed elementary school and lives with her parents in Chunchi Canton in the south of Chimborazo Province. This canton is noted for being an agricultural and livestock raising zone. It also has some tourist attractions like waterfalls, lagoons and moors; these are activities that contribute to the province’s economy. However, statistics show that there is a high poverty index and unsatisfied basic needs; there is also a worrisome illiteracy level. Chunchi is also, though, a place that stands out for the kindness of its residents and its modern architecture.

Jesika was unable to continue her schooling due to lack of economic resources and that’s when she followed her hardworking parents’ example as pig farmers and now she has 12 years’ experience in this activity she spends 8 hours daily in; she knows it quite well.

Jesika requested a loan that she’ll use in its entirety to buy pigs that will help increase her income generating profits that she’ll use to restart her schooling and also to help her parents meet their health and food needs.
