A loan of $600 helped to service computers and also to buy ice-cream and soft-drinks.

Cristina's story

Cristina, 55, is married to César and they have six children. She and her husband live together in their own house with a granddaughter. Cristina is a responsible woman. She tends to customers in her soda fountain where she sells soft-drinks, ice-cream, sandwiches, cakes, etc. She’s been in this business about 15 years and mentions that she does very well because she chats with her customers who are neighbors and friends and she feels good. Four months ago she bought computers and opened another business: Internet access booths. She and her husband manage both businesses. She says that she’s very happy because at her age she still works and earns what’s necessary to live decently. Cristina used to work in agriculture and thanks to her efforts was able to save and invest in these businesses.

Her greatest urgency is to buy more soft-drinks and ice-cream that are in high demand because of the hot weather for her soda fountain. She also needs to service the computers.

This is her 13th MFP loan and she’s very enthusiastic about her team’s work because she’s its punctual treasurer. Her “Los Pioneros de Capelo” communal bank is one of the oldest in the zone; she’s aware of that and feels proud. She will use the money to buy ice-cream and soft-drinks for her soda fountain and also to service her machines.
