Mariam is from a small village of Khashuri district. She is 43 years old and lives with her husband and two grown sons. The family is involved in the agricultural business. In particular, they run an animal husbandry business of four pigs, a calf and three milk cows, whose milk is used for dairy production. Mariam produces cheese and sells it at the local market.

In addition to those activities, they grow different kinds of vegetables on family-owned land and produce hay as well. Part of the harvested production is sold at the local open market, and the rest is used for family needs. Mariam works hard, but the family still doesn’t have enough income to make some savings and improve the living conditions of the family.

She requested a loan to expand a shed and purchase pigs. Mariam will purchase construction materials for a new shed. The existing one is already too small and doesn’t allow Mariam to plan future expansion of the family’s farming activities. After the pigs are raised and fattened, the family will sell meat and piglets, and this will increase the family income. With the increased income, Mariam will be able to purchase household things and improve the living conditions of the family.
