A loan of $675 helped a member to buy fertilizer.

Yorn's Group's story

Originally from a village in the Ratanak Mondul district of Battambang province, Cambodia, Yorn is a 39-year-old mother of three children, all of whom are dependent on her and still in school. To support the family, she has been farming rice on two hectares of farmland for almost 20 years and supplementing her income by selling grocery items in her local area. The current business earns her about 10,000 KHR per day and she manages to save about 2,000 KHR each day for her future needs. Lack of working capital for supporting her current business is still the main challenge.

Yorn is a first-time borrower with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, Yorn will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to buy more grocery items to sell. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income from the current business to make a better living and keep her children in school.
