A loan of $600 helped to buy fertilizer and feed.

María Judith's story

María has been a part of the San Vicente communal bank for the past three years, during which she has established friendly ties with all of her coworkers. She lives on the outskirts of the Victoria del Portete parish in Cuenca, a place with a cold climate that has great plains and beautiful landscapes. This area is favorable for raising livestock. The people here also farm and many travel to the city to work.

María is 60 years old, married, and has eight adult children. Four of them are married and live on their own. Her four single children help her financially. Her husband works as a stevedore. They inherited their house from her parents.

She spends most of her time at home raising animals, such as Guinea pigs, chickens, sheep, and livestock. She sells the milk she gets from her livestock. She also farms but her crops are only for personal consumption.

She will use the money from this loan to buy fertilizer for her crops and feed for her animals.

Her dream is to stay healthy and grow her animal business.
