A loan of $1,000 helped to buy fertilizer, manure and fungicide for his squash crop.

Salomón De Jesús's story

Salomón, 39, is married and has five children. He’s a very hardworking person who has been working in agriculture since the age of 12 when he started helping his father with his work in order to learn the occupation and earn money for when he got married and formed a family of his own. Despite knowing everything there is to know about agriculture, he still laments that his parents were unable to send him to school; they only taught him to work. He feels proud of his work and he’s had a squash farm for five years in addition to his corn crop. He buys products and supplies in a town located five kilometers from his house; he gets there by bus.

The loan he’s asking Fundación Campo for is to buy fertilizer, manure and fungicide for his squash crop. With this investment he will be able to get a good crop yield so that his income will be better to provide his children and family with good nourishment, health and clothing. With income earned he will complete the paperwork related to the land title and provide his children with the opportunity to go to school.
