Leh We Help Weself Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you members of the “Leh We Help Weself” group. These are small-scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of 500,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) for each in order to invest in their respective businesses.

Finda is the leader of this group. Finda is 45 years old, married, and has four children, two in primary school and two in secondary school. Finda sells market food: margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), palm oil (the country’s most popular cooking oil), pepper, etc. She has been doing this business for many years now.

With the help of this loan, Finda will invest in her business by buying the above mentioned items in bulk to add to her business. (Also included in the right of the photo is loan officer Edward)
