God Gee Women-Ii Group's story

Mariama is the leader of this group of entrepreneurs. She was born in Gbense village 40 years ago. She is married to a diamond miner and farmer with whom she has 6 children, 2 in primary school and 4 in secondary school. For 3 years now, Mariama has been selling cloths – cotton cloths, wax cloths, lace cloths, etc. This is the first loan that Mariama and her group members have applied for from SMT and Kiva lenders. (Their loan officer, Edward, is also included in the photo, handing them the loan). With the help of this loan, the members will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions. Mariama will use her share of the loan--500,000 Sierra Leonean leones (SLL)--to expand her business. She will buy a wide variety of cloths in large quantities to add to her current stock.
