Khom's Group's story

A Khom is 58 years old and is a mother with five children, three of whom help with the family business. She lives in a rural area of the Bakan district located in Pursat province, Cambodia. To provide for their family's daily needs, Khom and her husband grow paddy rice as their primary source of income. To better feed her household, the couple also catch fishes and eels to sell for extra income. Khom has run these businesses for about 30 years, and her efforts earn her about 24,000 KHR per day.

Khom is requesting her first loan with the Kiva partner has VisionFund along with her loan group co-member. She and her partner are requesting a loan of 2,000,000KHR each. As a group leader, Khom will use her portion of this group loan to buy materials for her fishing business such as materials (line, pole, and hook), fish trap, and cast net. Via her use of this loan portion, Khom hopes to catch more fish and increase her income.
