A loan of $775 helped to buy ingredients.

Martha's story

Martha is 36 years old and is hardworking, friendly and enterprising woman. She lives with her husband and they have a new five-month-old boy, along with their other children, ages 19 and 17. She has a home of her own which she shares with her family because they inspire her to continue.

Martha sells food in different places. She gets up early to begin her daily tasks. She cooks and takes her delicious dishes to different sawmills in town, where she has customers that she has been able to win and keep, thanks to the delicious seasoning she uses. She’s been doing this for five years and does it alone, since her children have to go to school. She always liked cooking, so she is fascinated by this work, so if it also provides earnings, then all the better.

She says that it’s very satisfying to see the faces of appreciation that her customers give her when they eat her dishes. She hopes to consolidate her work in the future and move ahead doing what she enjoys. This will be her 6th loan through MFP and she is grateful for the opportunity and support through the loans, allowing her to move ahead.

She promises to make her payments on time and continuing to work responsibly, along with the members of her communal bank. She will use the 2,000 PEN from this loan to buy vegetables, tubers, and different meats so that she can continue to prepare her delicious dishes. She will also buy a cabinet so she can store her kitchen utensils that she uses daily.
