A loan of $275 helped to pay his driver's license fees.

Luis Alberto's story

Luis, 30, is a hardworking, enthusiastic young man living with his parents in the city of Imperial, a city noted for having a very hot, welcoming climate. Agriculture is common here too, especially corn, bananas and cotton, among others.

Luis has worked since he was very young because his parents are humble people and he always helps them with household expenses. Because of their limited financial resources he was only able to attend secondary school but would have liked to have studied mechanical engineering. Luis used to work as a construction worker and then as a watchman at a firm and currently works as a cook in a roasted chicken shop in his city. He works about nine hours daily. He believes that he’s doing well in his work because he’s responsible and above all because he likes to cook and he prepares tasty dishes.

Luis is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they’ve given him he will be able to pay fees to get a driver’s license since he’s gotten the opportunity of working for a transportation firm in the city and it’s important to have a license. In this way, he will be able to have better employment and continue supporting his parents while he continue working hard to make his greatest dream a reality: to own a restaurant and provide his parents with a better quality of life.
