A loan of $1,175 helped invest in a 50 Cubic Freezer.

Elsy's story

Elsy is applying to her first Kiva loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which she plans to use to invest on a 50 cubic freezer that will allow her to make the ice she sells to contribute to her household income.

She lives with her husband and her 21-year old daughter. She started her business selling ice from her refrigerator, and after good results she bought a freezer to sell the ice at retail and wholesale. Her goal is to have a cold room from which not only sell ice, but also ice cream.

Her dream is to improve her home’s bedrooms and bathrooms as result of her and her husband’s hard work.

She has 3 years of experience selling from her home. Her sales are made in cash, and she is opened daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Among her customers, she has several merchants from the area, and local residents. She wants to build a loyal customer base to increase her income.
