A loan of $6,000 helped a member to buy 4 dozen sets of clothing for children, 6 pairs of trousers and 6 shirts for adults, 10 skirts, dresses, etc.

Tuungane Group's story

The customer, Kavira, is a member of the Tuungane group. She is 32 years old, widowed and the mother of 2 children. Her husband died after a short illness. All her children go to primary school. She has been selling clothing and various items for 5 years. She started her business with funds she received from her husband before his death. She displays her merchandise at the central market of Virunga.

This new loan will allow her to increase her turnover by buying items including 4 dozen sets of clothing for children, 6 pairs of trousers and 6 shirts for adults, 10 skirts and some dresses. Her biggest problem is that she sometimes sells on credit and some customers either make late payments or don't pay at all. She is also often the victim of looting along the road. She would like to see her children grow up and to provide a better future for them.

The customer would like to thank Hekima for its actions in aid of impoverished people excluded from regular bank lending channels.
