Bonanza (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank Bonanza is formed by 8 women that live in different areas of the city of Cuenca, characterized by its weather. The center of the city confers images of its colonial history and it is surrounded by 4 rivers. The people are kind with a warm heart and great charisma, they maintain their culture and traditions and their gastronomy is varied. The members are women of humble hearts, very hardworking and looking for a way to better the economy of their households and keep their families going. They obtain their loans at the communal bank to improve the small businesses they work at everyday.

One of the members of this group is Mercy. She lives downtown in the city of Cuenca, she is 44 years old and married. In her conjugal union she conceived 2 sons of 19 and 9 years old. Her first born attends university and her second son attends a small school in the city. Her husband works as a private employee. They do not own their home and thus they live in the home of a family member.

Mercy is an entrepreneurial woman that wakes up early Mondays to Saturdays to make a living in the preparation of snacks, an activity she has been carrying out for the last 7 years and for which she has a steady customer base. She also works looking after her shop Sunday to Sunday without set hours.

She is going to invest her loan in the purchase of a freezer for her store.

Her goal is to build her house in a lot that she owns.
