Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $3,175 helped a member to buy a pack of clothing and to fill shoe orders.

Bellas Artes Group's story

Marisol is a young member of the Bellas Artes group. She is 28 and makes a living selling shoes by catalog and used clothing at traveling markets. She is married and has a young daughter, who is 3 1/2. She decided to start her business when her husband was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago and has since been incapacitated. Marisol works from Thursdays to Tuesdays in the markets selling clothing and offers shoes all week long through catalogs. On Wednesdays, she cleans a house to make more income. She has to be in charge of all of their expenses to take good care of her family. She used the loan to buy a pack of clothing to sell at the market and to fill shoe orders. Marisol tells us that her fellow group members are very hard working and responsible.
