A loan of $1,600 helped to buy new tools and to buy replacement car parts for his business.

Jose Gabriel's story

José is 27 years old, single, and lives in the Rosa Zárate parish in the city of Santo Domingo, which is one of the youngest cities in the country. It is located in the area where the mountainous region and costal region of Ecuador meet. It is an area that is privileged, not only because of its ethnic richness, but also because of the unusual landscapes that can be found in this beautiful city. Santo Domingo de los Colorados now belongs to the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, which was recently formed. The most important annual fair in Santo Domingo is celebrated with an influx of visitors, commerce, and cultural interchange. There is also a large fair in the Cattleman’s Association buildings, where they show and compete woth the best examples of the different breeds and crosses from the haciendas of the region.

José, despite having only completed secondary education, works as a car mechanic. He learned this trade through the years and has had his own shop for 10 years. He wants to strengthen his business by buying new tools and also certain replacement parts that are always needed when repairing his client’s vehicles. In this way, he will be able to provide better service, which he thinks will help him get more clients and also improve his income.

In order to achieve his goal, José would like to obtain a loan. The lack of opportunities for financing have been a big obstacle for this young man. Now, with what would be his first loan, José feels optimistic.
