A loan of $50 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Pov's Group's story

Pov is age 48 and married with seven children, five of whom are living with her, as some are still in school and others are helping the family's business. To support the family, she has been farming rice on a five-hectare area of farmland for almost thirty years and raising pigs to supplement the income. The current business earns her about 22,000 KHR per day for her future needs. Drought is the main challenge for her rice field.

This is the second microloan for Pov’s group with Kiva’s partner VisionFund. The first loan has helped her better support her children’s education. Now she is leading her group to request a loan of 100,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes to grow her rice fruitfully and timely in order to sell it for a good price and make a better living.
