A loan of $375 helped a member buy pig feed.


Srey's Group's story

Srey is 44 years old and married with one son who works for others for a fee. She lives in a rural area in the Kror Kor district of Pursat province, Cambodia. To meet the family’s needs, Srey has been in raising ten pigs. Her husband also complements their income by catching fish in the local area. Having been in this business for twelve years, they can earn about 20,000 KHR per day and manage to save around 10,000 KHR each day after deducting daily expenses.

This is the first microloan for Srey’s group with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She and her group member are asking for a loan in amount of 1,000,000 KHR and 500,000 KHR respectively. As the leader, Srey is going to use her portion to buy pig feed for her pig-raising business and materials to support her husband’s fishing business such as​ cast nets and fish traps, etc. She hopes to increase more income from her current business so as to improve her family’s standard of living.
