The association of “Female Workers” has been a part of Pro-Mujer for more than 5 years. They have received and repaid 8 loans. The group lives in the Villa Tejada zone of El Alto and has 13 active members. The group has proven itself to be very organized.

The majority of the women do not own there homes. Instead, they pay monthly rent for small rooms which are insufficient for the needs of their families. These members need to save money in order to achieve the dream of owning their own homes.

The principal industry of the group is the production of artesian goods, including furniture, shoes, ceramics, paintings, etc. The women need additional capital in order to expand their workshops and purchase additional material for their work. In expanding their stores and inventories they will be able to increase their sales.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
