A loan of $400 helped to improve his dwelling (repair the walls and replace the piping).

Humberto's story

Humberto is an 18 year old young man who lives in the fine and generous city of Chincha, known as well for being the cradle of Peruvian sports greats and for its inhabitants, who have a marvelous talent for preparing delicious food. This is a city based on agriculture and livestock and above all a place where the indigenous dances of the country are performed, such as the “festejo,” “zamacueca,” and “landó,” among others. Humberto is very hardworking however when he has a little spare time he enjoys listening to music and occasionally he loves eating one of his favorite dishes, the very delicious “ceviche.” Due to his scare financial resource he was only able to study until the fifth year of secondary school, however he would have liked to have attended the university. Day after day, Humberto works in a textile business. He works about 12 hours a day and with the fruit of his work is barely able to pay his living expenses; he believes things are going well at work because he is very eager to get ahead. Humberto is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their great help, he will be able to make improvements on his dwelling, specifically repair the walls and install water piping because currently the pipes are rusty. Consequently he will be able to improve his quality of life and continue working to make his greatest dream a reality, that of “studying a profession.”
