Juan Carlos's story

Juan Carlos is 24 years old. He is marred to Anna who is 21 years old. They reached primary level in school. They have 2 children, one is 2 years old and the youngest is 4 months.

They live in Latacunga, the capital of the province of Cotopaxi. Cotopaxi is one of the provinces that form part of the Sierra Region of Ecuador. In recent years Latacunga has developed in such a way that is respected as one of the most important parts of the province. This is due to the flower-growing industry, mining, engineering, agribusiness, agriculture, and cattle farming. Additionally, businesses exist that generate interesting income, which commercialize the city and create several opportunities to do well. In this city many of the festivals conserve the purity of the historic origins or the ancient traditions.

Juan Carlos learned production of brooms from his in-laws and his parents. Now he works between 10 to 11 hours a day for this business. For the last 9 years he has gained experience to deliver an improved finished product to his clients. Juan sells his product in the city and adjacent towns, including the coastal region. Due to the long trips he suffers losses because people steal his merchandise. In spite of these obstacles, he is requesting a loan through “Fundación Alternativa” (Foundation Alternative) to grow the production and continue ahead in his business. One day his dream is to construct a house for his family to live in peace.
