Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,300 helped to purchase livestock.

Aisalkyn's story

Aisalkyn is 65 years old, married, and has raised 8 children.

As the main breadwinner of the family, Aisalkyn grows crops and raises livestock. She started this business 12 years ago with a sum of only 1,000 Kyrgyzstan Som (KGS). Thanks to her persistent hard work, Aisalkyn now has 2 dairy cows with calves, 3 horses, 15 sheep, and the monthly income from her farm is around 5,000 Som (KGS).

Aisalkyn has approached Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan in the amount of 60,000 Som (KGS) in order to develop her business. She will use the money to purchase sheep to fatten and re-sell. Aisalkyn plans to use the income generated by this loan to re-invest in her business. This year she would like to carry out major repairs to her barn.
