Gulam is 50 years old and is a hardworking and independent widow. She lives in Punjab, Pakistan with her two daughters and two sons. After her husband's death, she has worked very hard. All of her children are married and living separately, while she is living with her younger son. She is currently facing a water problem in her house and she wants to resolve it very soon.

For 15 years she has been running a general store and a shoe shop. Gulam, a member of an eight-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase some materials for her general store like food items, stationery, etc. She wants to invest some of the loan amount in her shoe shop as well.

With the profit, she wants to open a new mobile shop in the future. Her biggest dream in life is to go for an Umrah (pilgrimage). She is very much thankful to Kiva.
