Teresa Del Jesús's story

The Communal Bank Mujeres De Lucha meets every 15 days in the parish of Picoaza, in the city of Portoviejo. The place is known for being a shopping area, for its traditional festivals of San Pedro and San Pablo, and for the happiness of its people.

It's in this place where Teresa lives, who is 69 years old and has a a common-law relationship. From this relationship she has 11 children, all of them adults, one of them still living with her. Her husband is a businessman.

She and her husband are engaged in commerce, while she is selling fruits such as oranges and bananas at her home, her husband is selling fruits and vegetables in the central market. Very early in the morning, they go to the wholesale market to buy products to sale and after that she helps her husband to set up his stall in the market. Then, she goes to her working place which is located at her home, where she sells fruits. Her husband has more than 35 years with this business. She just started her small business five years ago, so she can earn something on her own.

This loan will be used to buy fruits and vegetables for her business and her husband's. She has been in the Communal Bank since the beginning and she likes it because the loans help her a lot. Her dream is to have a well-stocked grocery store.
