Pov's Group's story

Pov, aged 40, is a citizen from the Bakan district of Pursat province. She has three children, all of whom help with the family's business. To earn a daily living, she and her husband manage their area of paddy-planting farmland as their primary source of income. During her spare time, Pov also grows vegetables for extra income. Having been in this business for 20 years, she is able to earn almost 19,000 KHR per day.

Pov's group is composed of three female members. Pov is in her second loan cycle and the other two women are in their first loan cycle with Kiva's partner VisionFund. Pov used her previous loan in a smart manner to sustain her business. Now, she is taking out a new loan of 500,000 KHR, while one of the other group members is applying for 700,000 KHR, and the third group member is seeking a loan of 1,000,000 KHR. As the group leader, Pov will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer for her rice farm. She hopes to get her crop on time so as to earn a good living.
